About this policy

This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit telada.co, contact us, chat with us on our website or interact with our social media pages. We have written it in plain language.

We are a small business. We choose to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), even where the Act does not strictly require it of us.

Who we are

This website is operated by A Davison & E La Fontaine, trading as Telada (ABN 94 880 936 764), based in Queensland, Australia. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Telada.

You can contact us about anything in this policy at [email protected].

What personal information we collect

We collect only what we need. Depending on how you deal with us, that may include:

  • Enquiry details. When you use our quote or contact form, we collect your name, email address, any message you write and the services you are interested in.
  • Where you came from. We record the page you submitted the form from and campaign details in the link you clicked (for example, that you arrived from one of our LinkedIn or Facebook posts).
  • Live chat. If you use the chat on our website, we collect the messages you send, the page you were on, campaign details in the link you clicked, whether you wrote outside our office hours and, if you choose to give it, your email address.
  • Correspondence. If you email us or speak with us, we keep a record of that conversation.
  • Website usage. With analytics on, we collect information about how the site is used, such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Social media interactions. If you message, comment on or follow our pages on LinkedIn, Facebook or X, we can see what you share with us there, subject to each platform's own settings and policies.

We do not ask for sensitive information, and we ask that you do not send it to us through the form or the chat.

How we collect it

Mostly directly from you, when you fill in a form, use the chat on our website, email us or message us. We also collect usage information automatically through the cookies and tags described below.

Why we collect and use it

  • To respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote.
  • To answer your chat messages and, if you left your email address, to email you a reply you missed or a copy of the conversation.
  • To provide, manage and improve our services and to follow up on work we have done together.
  • To understand which pages and campaigns lead to enquiries, so we can improve this website and our marketing.
  • To measure and, if you choose "Accept all", to show our advertising to people who have visited this site.
  • To meet our legal and tax obligations and to protect against misuse of our website.

We will not use your information for a different purpose unless you would reasonably expect it, you have agreed, or the law requires or allows it. We do not sell personal information.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

When you first visit, a banner lets you choose how we use cookies. You can change your choice at any time using "Cookie settings" in the footer of any page.

  • Essential. We store one first-party cookie, telada_consent, to remember your choice for up to 180 days. If you use the chat, we also keep a conversation token in your browser's local storage (tlc-token) so the conversation carries on as you move between pages. It is cleared when the chat is closed and stops working after 30 days.
  • Analytics (on by default, you can decline). We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 to measure how the site is used. Some of this measurement is routed through our own domain. If you choose "Essential only", analytics storage is switched off.
  • Advertising (off until you choose "Accept all"). If you accept, we load the Meta Pixel, which lets us measure actions on this site that follow our Facebook and Instagram marketing and show our advertising to people who have visited. It sets cookies such as _fbp and shares information about your visit with Meta. If you do not accept, the Meta Pixel does not load.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the site may not work as intended.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the business, and only as needed for that purpose. These include:

  • our website hosting and security providers (SiteGround and Cloudflare). Cloudflare also runs the service that passes live chat messages between our website and our team;
  • Slack, where our team reads and answers live chat messages;
  • Google, for analytics (Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4);
  • Meta, for advertising measurement, only if you choose "Accept all";
  • Zoho, whose Bigin customer relationship tool holds our enquiry records;
  • our email provider; and
  • LinkedIn, Facebook and X, where you interact with us on those platforms, and the tool we use to schedule our posts to them.

We may also disclose information if you ask us to, if the law requires it, or to protect our rights.

Overseas disclosure

Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries. We choose providers with published privacy and security commitments, but we cannot control where each of them stores data. If you are not comfortable with this, you can email us instead of using the form or the chat, or choose "Essential only" so analytics and advertising are off.

Storage, security and how long we keep it

Enquiries are held in our customer relationship tool and in a private archive on our web server that is not publicly accessible. We use access controls, encrypted connections and reputable providers. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We keep enquiry and customer records for as long as they are useful for the purpose they were collected for, or as the law requires, and then delete or de-identify them where we reasonably can.

Live chat conversations are stored in our website's database, which is not publicly accessible, and in our Slack workspace. We delete them from our website automatically after 24 months. The copy in Slack is kept according to our Slack workspace's retention settings. You can ask us to delete a conversation sooner.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm who you are first, and in some cases we may not be able to delete something we are required to keep. If so, we will explain why.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email [email protected] with the details. We will acknowledge your complaint, look into it and reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. For significant changes we will say so on this page.
