Website Care & Maintenance

The month you don't have to think about your website

Ongoing maintenance for WordPress and Shopify sites: backups, updates, security, uptime, and monthly reports. Predictable, cadence-labelled, and covered by a written SLA.

Why maintenance matters

What happens when maintenance stops

WordPress core skips a version. Plugins fall behind. A vulnerability lands. Search Console flags a security issue and rankings dip within days. A backup that ran three months ago restores a version of the site nobody recognises.

Maintenance is dull work, and that’s the point. A written cadence, weekly, monthly, and as-needed, keeps the dull work off your team’s plate and out of the incident timeline.

Cadence

What is covered, and how often

Every item has a stated cadence and a documented owner. Nothing is verbal.

Every week · Backups

Full database + files backup off-site, retained for 30 days. Restore-tested monthly.

Every month · Core + plugin updates

WordPress core, plugin, and theme updates deployed to staging first, previewed, then pushed to production inside a scheduled window.

Every month · Security scan

Malware scan + vulnerability check + WAF review. Findings triaged and fixed inside the month or flagged with a mitigation.

Every month · Uptime report

Uptime, response time, and any incident timeline delivered as a two-page PDF you can hand to a client or a board.

As needed · Content changes

A pool of hours per month for text, image, and layout changes. Roll-over up to one month if unused.

As needed · Incident response

When something breaks: SLA-backed response within business hours (or 24/7 on higher tiers), with a written post-incident summary.

Is this you?

Two maintenance archetypes

If one of these sounds like your situation, a maintenance plan pays for itself the first month you don't spend on incident response.

Single-site owner

Your site is critical, but you don't want a developer on payroll

A marketing site, a small ecommerce store, or a membership platform. You need someone accountable for the updates, backups, and the 3am uptime alert, without hiring in-house.

  • Nobody currently owns WordPress plugin updates
  • Backups exist "somewhere" but nobody has ever tested a restore
  • Security notices from Wordfence pile up unread

A single point of contact, a written SLA, and a monthly report that says the site is fine.

Multi-site agency

You manage sites for clients, and the maintenance drag is real

You built the sites. Now the endless updates, backups, and incident calls are eating the team's build time. A white-labelled maintenance layer under your agency gets the drag off your bench.

  • Same plugin update x 30 client sites, every month
  • Client incident calls always arrive on Fridays
  • No consistent report format across the client base

Your bench focuses on new builds; maintenance ships in your agency name, on a fixed monthly retainer.

Common questions

Maintenance questions we hear most

What's the SLA?

Business-hours response inside four hours for standard tickets on the standard plan. Response time drops on higher tiers, and 24/7 with paging is available for critical sites. Every SLA is in the written agreement. No reading between the lines.

What is not covered?

Full redesigns, net-new development, and content migrations. Those are separate engagements. If a ticket looks like it's going that direction, we flag it before doing the work, with a written quote.

Do you cover Shopify as well as WordPress?

Yes. Shopify plans focus on theme updates, third-party app hygiene, and integration monitoring rather than core updates (Shopify handles those). The SLA and reporting cadence are identical.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Month-to-month, no lock-in. If we walk, we walk with a handover doc so your next provider (in-house or another agency) starts on day one.

Do you sell one-off tickets without a plan?

Yes, at an hourly rate. Ongoing plans are cheaper per hour and get priority queue, but we handle one-offs if that fits your situation better.

Do you handle hosting?

Maintenance covers the site; hosting is a separate managed service. If you want us running the host as well, see managed hosting. Same monthly cadence and SLA, coordinated with your maintenance plan.
